San Diego, CA -- (SBWire) -- 08/27/2018 --The annual awards are given by the Collaborative Practice California (CPCal) group. The Eureka Award recognizes and honors those who "have made significant contributions and demonstrated an abiding dedication to establishing and sustaining Collaborative Practice in California," the association says. Lewis is only the third recipient from San Diego.

"I'm honored to receive the Eureka Award from Collaborative Practice California," said Lewis. "To be an award recipient with the other two San Diego Collaborative Group members, Mark Hill (2006) and Shawn Weber (2015), is a very special moment for me."

Ms. Lewis specializes in Mediation, Collaborative Divorce and traditional settlement divorces. She was selected as a 2013 Top Family Attorney by the San Diego Daily Transcript. She was listed a Top Lawyer in San Diego in 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018 by San Diego Magazine. She sits on the CPCalassociation board and is a member of the Collaborative Family Law Group of San Diego (CFLGSD) and is the group's President-Elect.

Collaborative practice seeks to make divorce easier on everyone involved. By bringing together attorneys, mental health professionals and financial advisers, Collaborative Divorce helps both sides to find an amicable and equitable way to end a relationship.

CPCal and the CFLGSD bring all these people together into one association where members can exchange ideas and best practices. Through communications, workshops and seminars, members can improve their own craft and earn necessary continuing education credits.

CFLGSD also offers programs to the general public like the Divorce Options Workshop. The workshop is for couples married or not and with or without children. The workshop explains the divorce and separation process from mediation to going to court. Ms. Lewis said people need to know they have Divorce Options.

"A peaceful divorce should be everyone's goal. Collaborative Divorce offers a cooperative setting for both sides to work out a separation that leaves no lasting animosity," she said. "When a couple, especially with children, can come to a peaceful divorce, it is better for everyone involved, especially the children."
