Autism Soccer Foundation Announces First Annual Autism Soccer Walk Along with Carlos "El Pibe" Valderrama Presented by the Embassy of Qatar

Miami Beach, FL -- (SBWire) -- 02/21/2019 --Autism Soccer Foundation announces its first annual Autism Soccer Walk on April 6th during Autism Soccer Awareness Week to promote inclusion in sports, along with its ambassador Carlos "El Pibe" Valderrama and presented by the Embassy of Qatar in Washington, DC.

Wednesday, February 20th—The Autism Soccer Foundation will celebrate Autism Soccer Awareness Week in Florida with its first annual Autism Soccer Walk on April 6th. The family-friendly event, presented in partnership with the Embassy of Qatar in Washington DC, is part of the Foundation's larger effort to raise awareness about autism, promote inclusion in sports and teach children with autism spectrum disorder soccer skills in a safe and supportive environment. The Foundation's ambassador, the globally renowned former Colombian soccer player, Carlos "El Pibe" Valderrama, will be in attendance along with representatives from the embassy.

Taking place at the Amelia Earhart Park in Hialeah, the Autism Soccer Walk will begin with a formal opening ceremony, followed by a 1.5 mile walk around the park. In addition, there will be a kids' zone, food trucks, live music and appearances by local celebrities. The Autism Soccer Foundation is partnering with the Embassy of Qatar in Washington DC because of a shared commitment to use sports to make a positive impact on people's lives and to promote greater connections between people of various backgrounds and cultures.

The Autism Soccer Walk comes on the heels of a historic development in Florida's autism awareness movement. A bill proposed by state senator Annette Taddeo recently passed, officially recognizing April 1-7 as Autism Soccer Awareness Week in Florida. During the week, Floridians are encouraged to support children with autism to engage in sports, including soccer, in order to emphasize the value of teamwork and to help them build self-confidence.

"All is needed is love, patience and compassion to create room for those whose abilities might be a little different than ours." said Oscar Amuz, founder and president of Autism Soccer Foundation when asked about his motivation to organize the Autism Soccer Walk.
