BMG were asked by top film producers to create a precious metal piece of jewellery back in autumn 2010. The film company specifically wanted a hypoallergenic safety pin to feature in their new film based on the Steig Larsson bestselling novel.

The reason they approached Body Matters Gold is because all their handmade body jewellery is made using nickel free yellow gold, white gold, palladium or platinum, ensuring all pieces are completely hypoallergenic. Head Goldsmith Barney King took charge of the design and created a piece that fitted in perfectly with the film company's requirements. The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo follows the story of a disgraced journalist Mikael Blomkvist (Daniel Craig) who is aided by pierced and tattooed Lisbeth Salander to investigate the disappearance of a wealthy patriarch's niece. BMG's specially designed nipple piercing featured on the film's top poster, which caused a great deal of controversy due to aspects of nudity and the juxtaposition of characters in terms of their roles in the story. However, the poster was not banned as the imagery emphasises the film's dark storyline and gritty thriller genre.
