'Exploding Sky' Now Open at New York's Christopher Henry Gallery

Artist Matt Enger's new show, Exploding Sky, opens in New York to critical acclaim.

New York City, NY -- (SBWire) -- 08/01/2012 --After much anticipation, artist Matt Enger is today announcing the opening of ‘Exploding Sky’ in New York.

The show will feature Matt Enger’s limited edition screen printed street-wear, large inspiration drawings, sculpture and his custom vintage American firearms.

Taking its name from Exploding Sky, the studio founded in the early 90s by twin Brother Artists Matt and the late Mark Enger on New York's lower east side.

The Enger brothers began Making silk screen paintings and street wear that reflected their knowledge and passion for American and Native American history and traditions, Pop Art, the 1960s, Motorcycles and their love of the chaos and Freedom that has always been New York.

Their street wear was quickly adopted by the local musicians, including The Boredoms, Metallica, Lubricated Goat and others. This new-found popularity gave rise to Matt and Mark collaborating through silk-screening with many artists and designers (including Kiki Smith, Donald Baechelor,Catherine Melandrino, Robert Rauchenberg,Spooky and others.)

In the current showing at the Christopher Henry Gallery, 127 Elizabeth Street, New York, Matt has created a futuristic day-glo plastic, modular hanging room divider consisting of 72-1 foot square panels featuring several views of a 900 year old Anasazi Indian Skull.

The inspiration drawings are large ink paintings on paper of Motorcycles, Indians, Civil war Cavalry, Fashion Models, street scenes, landscapes, Justin Bieber and his unique vision of Modern Americana. An array of vintage Historic American Firearms and iconic street wear round out Matt’s vision of an Iconized contemporary American retail outlet.
