Natashia Contreras believes that donating one’s time is one of the greatest gifts that can be given.

Palm Springs High School is known for offering a rigorous academic course listing, and challenging and inspiring students to achieve the most in their high school experience. For ambitious students like Natashia Contreras, the challenge is well received.

Like all Palm Springs High School graduates, Natashia Contreras had to complete (at a minimum): four years of English, three years of mathematics, two years of history, three years of science, one year of a practical/vocational art, and one year of a fine art or foreign language. However, this list is just the beginning of what Natashia Contreras and her fellow class of 2006 students had to master. Many more course requirements are designed to challenge and educate Palm Springs High School Students on a daily basis.

“I feel like I got a great education at Palm Springs High,” says Natashia Contreras. “There were a few teachers and courses that especially stand out in my memory as a student at Palm Springs High. I think I would have turned out entirely differently without them!”

As public high school curriculums are encouraged to become increasingly challenging in order to maintain funding, many students are finding graduation to be a more difficult feat. However, Natashia Contreras feels that with the right amount of determination and ambition graduation is quite feasible.

“I’ve always been a hard worker,” says Natashia Contreras. “I guess it’s in my blood.” Currently, Natashia Contreras is applying her hard work ethic at College of the Desert in Palm Springs where she is pursuing a degree in nursing. In addition to being a student once again, Natashia Contreras is also a dedicated mother and an employee at Palm Springs Autobody in Cathedral City, California. She hopes to begin a career soon as a registered nurse.
