Piro was born in Ravenna Ohio in the autumn of 1975. His parent’s jobs moved him throughout the Midwest quite a bit in his early years, so he learned many stories and traditions of the region in his youth. In 1987, his family moved to Northern California where he spent the rest of his early years. In 1994, he was accepted to the University of the California at Berkeley where he majored in American Studies.
