MindTree Wins 2009 CIO 100 Award

Also receives a special award for innovation

Bangalore, Karnataka -- (SBWire) -- 09/24/2009 -- MindTree Limited, a global IT Solutions Company, announced today that it is a winner of the 2009 CIO 100 award instituted by IDG India’s CIO magazine. The annual award program recognizes organizations that exemplify the highest level of operational and strategic excellence in information technology. This year’s award theme was ‘The Ingenious 100’, which recognized CIOs and organizations who in tough global conditions found ingenious solutions to take business forward through the use of information technology. MindTree also won a special award for innovation.

MindTree was recognized by CIO magazine for the successful implementation of its project that facilitated a ‘Zero Travel Annual Plan Meeting’. In an effort to cut costs, MindTree deployed a technology solution that enabled the company to hold its annual strategy meeting with the participation of its leaders from around the world without the need to travel. The solution deployed was a combination of Microsoft OCS Live meeting, Tata Communications audio bridge and audio/video equipment. With 120 people participating in the strategy meeting from 14 different cities around the world over a six-day period, MindTree’s Computer Information Systems (CIS) team created a solution that included any-to-any communication, parallel tracks and was cognizant of different time zones. Also, to ensure that the flow of the meeting was not disrupted, CIS de-risked the technology so that failures would not occur during the important sessions.

“This award is a true tribute to our CIS team’s meticulous planning and orchestration of the solution for our annual planning event,” said MindTree Chief Information Officer Sudhir Kumar Reddy. “The event turned out to be one of the most productive planning sessions we have ever had. We realized significant cost savings, too, and further anticipate additional savings due to the rapid adoption of the solution throughout our organization.”

“The Ingenious 100 honorees stand out because they have beaten the odds in challenging business climates,” said IDG India Editor-in-Chief Vijay Ramachandran. “The CIOs leading these projects are smart, inventive and determined — I offer them my best wishes.”

The 2009 CIO 100 awards were presented by renowned IT visionary Kiran Karnik at Goa in a glitzy ceremony on September 5. For more information on the awards, please visit http://www.cio100.in.
