New Self-help Guides Vow to Donate Proceeds to the Environment

Salt Lake City, UT -- (SBWire) -- 01/13/2010 -- The 10 Rules Books, a new series of self-help guides each containing ten rules to help people better themselves, will also, benefit non-profits who protect the earth and endangered species. Philanthropist & author will not only donate partial proceeds from book sales to environmental causes but in addition, focus efforts towards a future no-kill cat shelter and affordable housing for the low-income.

“People are getting more environmentally conscious in recent years,” exclaimed Madeline Openshaw, self-published author of the Ten Rules Books series. This is the reason why Ten Rules Books was created, to help save the environment. The series, created beginning of 2009 with the intent to create self-help guides with real facts, was soon morphed into a business which will donate a percentage of proceeds to saving the environment. Long-time philanthropist, Madeline Openshaw will be starting sales of her books January 2010. The series started with, “10 Rules for a Long Lasting Marriage.” Mrs. Openshaw says, “Being a frequent e-book buyer myself, I decided to harness my writing skills and use them to create a line of books intended to help people with the added benefit of helping the environment.”

Helping the Environment
E-books are a way of not only saving money for the publisher, but it also a way for eco-conscious businesses to help save the planet. Because 10 Rules Books is based online; the money that could have been spent on leasing property, using trees for paper and other resources for instance mailing, can now be used on funding research to help our planet. Long range plans for Madeline and her husband, James, will be to begin a no-kill shelter for domestic cats along with affordable housing for low-income citizens.

Derek Miller says, "I am excited to see this business model play out and believe that others might follow Mrs. Openshaw's lead with this exciting innovative new business idea.”
