Carl Wischhusen Joins Cohen Pontani Lieberman & Pavane LLP in New York City

Wischhusen has significant experience in patent prosecution, opinions, counseling and litigation across a wide range of technologies, such as electrical engineering , business and finance, biomedical engineering and mechanical engineering.

He handles prosecution for a large portfolio of U.S., international and foreign patent applications, including the preparation of patent applications, amendments, appeals, reexaminations, reissues, and other prosecution-related filings. He also prepares patentability, freedom-to-operate and validity opinions and counsels clients on patent portfolio management and development, licensing, engineering design changes and design-around solutions, among other patent-related legal issues.

Clients include large and small high-technology companies, as well as a large university, for which he manages a portfolio of electrical and biomedical engineering technologies.

Wischhusen received his B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech) and a M.S. in Electrical Engineering from Johns Hopkins University before completing his J.D. at Georgetown University Law Center. He is admitted to practice in New York and before the U.S. District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York, and the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Prior to his career in law, he worked as an electrical engineer in the defense industry.
