Makers of Sense Launch New Record at Unique Eclectic Release Event

The electronic production duo will release their debut album “Out of the Box” on March 12th at an ethnic restaurant on Chicago’s north side

Chicago, IL -- (SBWire) -- 03/03/2010 -- The electronic duo Makers of Sense will release their first collaborative album “Out of the Box” on March 12 at Turkish Cuisine, a popular restaurant on Chicago’s North Side. “The event will be really unique. Instead of going for the usual release show, we wanted to treat our closest fans and supporters to a great night out, where they can have dinner with friends, watch our show, and share our vibe…” says Brother El, one of the band members.

The Makers of Sense’s show will be accompanied by dinner and hosted by the newest MC addition to JBTV (Chicago’s alternative music TV show), Jeff Baraka. Visual arts will also be represented in a live art performance by Dustin the Painter and through the background visuals of VJ Giroscopio. Belly dancers and free-styling saxophonist, Sam Curry, will complete the mix for an eclectic night that blends diverse cultural backgrounds and inspirations, following an approach that has characterized Makers of Sense since their debut. “We worked a lot in crafting the new blend that defines this album”, adds labo_labs, the other half of the band. “Now we really want to celebrate that it’s finally out, so we’ve invited fans, friends, the press, and other artists to participate in a characteristic Makers of Sense reality-bending boundary-breaking celebration.”

The Chicago-based duo is no stranger to eclectic mixes and unique proposals. Composed by South-Side musician, hiphop artist and producer, Lional “Brother El” Freeman, and by Chilean electronic musician and physicist, Cristián Huepe (aka “labo_labs”), the collaboration has always defied boundaries. They combined their backgrounds to create a new high-energy sound: Urban Post Electronic Dance Music; which merges electronica, hip hop, house, trance, vocal dub, & live instruments. They have also pursued unique approaches in production and promotion, sparking widespread interest when they became the first band to offer a live act on eBay, performing at the highest bidder’s 2008 New Year celebration. Their music was described as "forward-thinking, left-field rap and electro" by Time Out Chicago's Critics' Picks; while Urb Magazine referred to them as spawning a "unique and original style" combining "an electronic fusion of dance, hip-hop, and even some rock elements... amongst others".

The Makers of Sense release event is scheduled to start at 7:30 pm on Friday March 12 at Turkish Cuisine; 5605 N. Clark Street, Chicago, IL 60660.
