In terms of gross written premium, the segment grew at a review-period (2008-2012) CAGR of 2.3%. It is expected to grow at a forecast-period (2012-2017) CAGR of 2.8%. During the review period, facultative reinsurance recorded a decline and went from accounting for 29% of the segment in 2008 to 19.9% in 2012. In contrast, treaty reinsurance recorded an increase from 71.0% in 2008 to 80.1% in 2012. This can be predominantly attributed to the 2011 floods.
