Boston, MA -- (SBWire) -- 01/09/2014 --In 2013, BMI forecasts total vehicle sales in Poland to increase 6.2%, to some 350,468 units. This comes on the back of a forecasted 6% increase in passenger car sales and 7.4% increase in the commercial vehicle (CV) segment.

Despite a large decline earlier in the year, the Polish passenger car market has seen a resurgence in recent months on the back of improvements in the consumer story combined with pent-up demand and low base effects. The country's labour market is starting to show modest signs of improvement, with real wages increasing in recent months. Inflation growth has tempered recently. Further, economic data suggests that retail sales have seen an uptick recently. These dynamics have served to buoy consumer sentiment, and this has filtered through to passenger car sales.

On the back of increasingly bullish manufacturing sentiment in the country and low base effects from 2012, BMI forecasts expects to see a rebound in Poland's CV market. Recent economic data suggest that the country's manufacturing and industrial sectors are resurging on the back of export-led growth to Europe. Further, construction activity has picked-up in recent months. These dynamics have helped buoy wider economic activity in Poland, and we believe they have been the primary driver of the uptick in CV sales over the year to date. We expect this sentiment to continue over the remainder of 2013 and into 2014, which should further boost the CV segment.
