Victoza and Its Link to Kidney Impairment Are the Subject of New Blog on Danziger and De Llano Site

Houston, TX -- (SBWire) -- 01/10/2014 --Danziger and De Llano, a law firm that is based in Houston, Texas, has just posted a new article on its blog that focuses on the serious side effects that are associated with Victoza, an injectible drug that is used for treating type 2 diabetes. As the in-depth article explains, the FDA issued a warning linking Victoza to kidney impairment back in May of 2011. A month later, the FDA issued a second warning linking the drug to thyroid cancer, as well as a general warning concerning the use of the medication and its apparent link to pancreatitis and pancreatic cancer.

The serious health problems that have been found to be associated with taking Victoza, which was approved by the FDA in 2010, have many people understandably asking “Is Novo Nordisk liable?” Novo Nordisk is the company that manufactures Victoza. As the article explains, drug defect cases—such as those that have been filed as the result of taking Victoza—fall under the category of product liability. Law firms must show that the manufacturer was negligent when they designed or manufactured the medicine, and that it posed “unreasonable risks” to the people who took it.

From the information that has been collected about the medication, the new article notes that there are definitely some serious risks of taking Victoza.

“Victoza is a known link to organ failure, permanent disability, and even death, including from causes of Thyroid Cancer, Renal Failure (Kidneys), and Pancreatitis,” the article noted, adding that in 2012, a group called Public Citizen petitioned the FDA to recall Victoza citing that its risks outweighed the clinical benefits of the drug.

“Public Citizen went on to say that an increasing number of people are now taking this drug and experiencing serious health problems as a result.”

People who have taken Victoza and are now suffering from serious health issues such as kidney failure, pancreatic cancer, and/or any of the other serious side effects associated with the drug may have a claim for compensation. The article advises that people contact an attorney in order to assess their medication situation, as well as a review of their medical records and history.
