Thomasville, GA -- (SBWire) -- 01/13/2014 --Survive-a-Storm Shelters announced today that it has created a grant program to make the purchase of underground storm shelters and above ground safe rooms more affordable for active and former members of the U.S. military as well as current and retired first responders including police officers, firefighters, and emergency medical technicians.

The company is running this "Protect the Protectors Grant Program" between now and August 31 for residents of Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina and Missouri. The program is currently available only in these states.

Survive-a-Storm Shelters  is a manufacturer of underground storm shelters and above ground safe rooms. In the aftermath of this year's deadly tornado season the company has been looking for ways to make storm shelters more accessible to those who have dedicated--and often risked--their lives to help keep the public safe. According to company spokesperson Matt Williams, "Survive-a-Storm Shelters has a tremendous amount of respect for those who are out there on the front lines day in and day out protecting all of us. We thought that the Protect the Protectors grant program would be a great way to show our gratitude while affording these first responders a bit of comfort in knowing that their families are safe while they are away helping to protect and serve the public."

The Survive-a-Storm "Protect the Protectors" grant program is applicable to all Survive-a-Storm Shelter below ground tornado shelters and above ground safe rooms sold in select states between now and August 31, 2011. Only five hundred grants are available under the program, which is available on a first come, first-served basis. The $2,000 grant is issued as a discount against the total cost of the shelter and represents a significant savings of between 25% and 40% off retail price. Potential grant recipients may call Survive-a-Storm Shelters at 1-888-360-1492 for more information.
