Snowbird Guests Elated by 53 Inches of Snow in Nine Days

Skiers and snowboarders are flocking to the mountains to celebrate the 53 inches of new snow that fell in the last nine days.

Snowbird, UT -- (SBWire) -- 01/16/2014 --“Snowbird has some of the best conditions in North America right now, and our guests are over the moon about the recent snowfall”, said Dave Fields, Vice President of Resort Operations.

The resort¹s total snowfall for this season is 155 inches. Up-to-date conditions, including live web cameras and open runs and lifts, can be found at http://www.snowbird.com/mountain-report.

The storm came just in time to fill in the mountain for the International Freeskiers and Snowboarders Association (IFSA) Junior National Tier Competition, a big mountain contest for youth. The competition will take place Jan. 18-20 at Snowbird.

The fresh snow improved snowmobiling conditions in Mineral Basin as well. Information about snowmobiling tours and other winter activities, such as snow shoeing, Aerial Tram rides and fly fishing are at www.snowbird.com/winter/.

Snowbird SkiMums, a meet-up group for women, are also taking advantage of the new snow.

“Conditions are wonderful, and we’re delighted to ski the fresh powder,” said SkiMum Paula Colman.

SkiMums meet every Wednesday at the base of Gadzoom lift, and ski without their children or husbands for the morning, then enjoy hot chocolate in the afternoon. The women keep up a blog about their experience, and about Snowbird, and www.SkiMums.com.

Snowbird is offering a lodging deal for powder-chasers. Named White Rooms, the lodging package must be purchased before Jan. 31, 2014, but may be redeemed anytime space is available during the 2013-14 ski and snowboard season, within 48 hours of arrival.
