Bamenda, North West Region -- (SBWire) -- 02/10/2014 --The Chief Executive Officer of the Modern Advocacy Humanitarian Social and Rehabilitation Association-MAHSRA, a Cameroon based International Human Rights Organization in consultative status with the United Nations says that the US consulate has shown much disregard on the decision of the United Nations with regards the participation of designated representatives at UN meetings in New York.

Citing the two exemplary cases of MAHSRA’s representatives who were refused visas to go and present a UN confirmed side event for ICT- health and e-governance development prospects in less developing countries at the sixth session open working group for sustainable development (OWG/SDG), he lamented that the participatory rights of his organization have been violated according to paragraphs 41 and 50 of ECOSOC resolution 1996/31.

Furthermore, Kelly NGYAH exclaimed to the pressmen that, even though US foreign policies are supportive of the participatory rights of the civil society, he wondered why the consulate officers would not respect such obligations, even in faced of UN confirmed decisions. He also insinuated that the mail service and most probably some workers of the US embassy in Cameroon have personalised the institution in such a way that they will receive hierarchy letters and refuse to acknowledge it.

In addition, he further blamed some egoistic State administrators in Cameroon who have been undermining the development participation potentials of the youths and made a stained promise that “in the course to empower the civil society participation in both national and international development processes, MAHSRA will leave no stone unturned and will stand below no unlawful heights towards achieving its purpose".

The CEO of MAHSRA fears that, if measures are not put in place to combat what he now terms ‘Modern Marginalization and Discriminatory Attitudes’, then the hope of a just and equal world will be tactically annihilated.
