Amroha, Uttar Pradesh -- (SBWire) -- 02/21/2014 --Ayurveda is an ancient medical science which originated thousands of years back in India. It uses only natural resources like plants, natural minerals and oils to treat diseases. Hundreds of thousands of years have passed since Ayurveda came into existence and even today it is one of the most commonly used natural therapy. Not only in India but also in developed countries like USA, UK, Canada, Australia, Japan and Russia.

Over the recent years Ayurveda has evolved as one natural healing system of medicine which has been thoroughly researched, evaluated and documented the most. Several government and non governmental organizations have been doing extensive scientific research on Ayurveda today.

The beauty of Ayurveda is in the fact that it not only treats the symptoms or disease but the person as a whole. Only natural ingredients are used in formulation of Ayurvedic medicines which ensures that it gets absorbed into the system readily without producing any side effects.
According to the ayurvedic principles, human body is composed of five different elements:
1. Water
2. Air
3. Earth
4. Fire and
5. Space

These basic elements combine to form different temperaments (dosha). Every person has got a specific balance and composition of these basic elements and this gives every person a different personality. There are three known dosha in ayurveda, namely Vata, Pitta, Kapha.

It is also assumed that a disease is the external form which is produced due to an internal imbalance between these dosha.

While treating a disease an ayurvedic doctor first tries to evaluate which dosha has been disturbed. This is evaluated with a thorough medical history and physical examination of the patient. Once the cause of disease is understood the doctor prescribes medicines which help to restore the balance between the dosha. The ayurvedic doctor also helps the patient in modifying his lifestyle which may have been having a direct impact on his health. Certain physical procedures and exercises are also advised if required, which are called panchkarma in Ayurveda.

Various mass surveys and market data reports have revealed that more and more people, especially those in their 40s have been looking forward to this ancient therapy recently. According to experts, it may be due to a general belief that this natural system of healing is completely safe and free from side effects. However, the Food and Drug controlling agencies have found several heavy metals and harmful chemical in the samples taken from random ayurvedic medicines. It is therefore yet to be seen how the governments handle this increasing penetration of herbal products in the society to make sure that they comply with the safety norms as laid out by the FDA.
