Dr. McCoy received her BA from University of South Carolina, Masters in Clinical Counseling from The Citadel. Her doctorate is from the University of Sarasota. She is a Diplomate with the American Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress, a certified Cognitive-Behavioral Therapist, a national certified therapist, a NOVA-trained community crisis responder and a licensed professional counselor.

In private practice for 16 years, Dr. McCoy is a researcher, a psychotherapist and a law enforcement counselor. She has served in many positions including the Chairman of both a Rape Crisis Center & an Infant Fatality Board. She has been a hiring consultant for police departments in her area, is a former Commissioner for the USC Western Carolina Higher Education Commission, & is a former member of the South Carolina Governor’s Arson Task Force.
