Rap music draws directly from the personal experience of the artist, the musician's personal history, geography and experience. This includes the artist's personal pains and defeats. A special breed of rap artist reverses their circumstance through music. Shawn Breed is one of those artists.

He began life as Shawn Myles, growing up in Brooklyn, NY. His life experience built the man now known as "Sean Breed". He came from a physically and mentally abusive home environment, at the hands of his biological father. His mother got him out of that situation when he was 6 years old. Soon she remarried and settled in Staten Island. Though away from his abusive father, Sean found himself in the New Brighton Projects, a violent world of its own with drug deals, shootouts and murders a part of daily life.

Sean refused to let himself become a part of the street life of the housing projects. He used his pen, loose leaf notebook and poetry to become how he puts it, "the narrator of the visual darkness I saw everyday in one of the most notoriously dangerous housing projects in New York."

He believes that every entertainer is "given a gift to entertain people but to also use their platform to help the betterment of the human race". Sean Breed named his album H.I.T.L.E.R. (Hate Is Taught Love Ends Racism) to evoke dialog.

Sean Breed believes in the power of music to change moods, give hope, inspire and evoke thought in the masses. He sees his music as catering predominantly to the mature person, "who has lived in poverty, made bad choices, paid for those choices and came out fighting." Sean Breed is their voice.
