The Kolten Experience Prepares a Passionate Collection of R&B Tunes for Debut Recording
Kolten Perine, who goes by the name The Kolten Experience, is currently working on his debut recording, and his track “Love Your Body” will be featured on WiFi PR Group’s compilation, Indie Anthems Vol. 5.
Las Vegas, NV -- (SBWire) -- 03/28/2014 --The Kolten Experience, stage name for R&B solo artist Kolten Perine, has begun to make an impression on R&B fans and the music scene in his hometown, Bowie, MD. As he begins to make waves in the R&B community, this independent artist is working on sharing his music with the masses through his debut recording and a featured track on WiFi PR Group’s compilation, Indie Anthems Vol. 5.
Kolten got an early start in the development of his love for music. His mother was a gospel artist and had a gospel group with her sisters. While they would rehearse, Kolten would sit right in front of their practices and listen intently. His mother’s brothers, also musicians, were there, and he watched them as well, learning to perform and to love music. It was then that he formed the roots of his love of music and his future career as a solo artist.
As The Kolten Experience, Kolten is a vocalist, lyricist and multi-instrumentalist whose music has a strong foundation in R&B. He dabbles in hip-hop and pop as well, which gives his songs a wider appeal and musical distinction. As a versatile artist, he loves almost all types of music, and those influences can be heard in his tracks. His sound is soft, smooth and sultry though he can take the energy of his tunes up a notch as well. Right off the bat, many people compare him to Usher or Chris Brown, but comparisons can also be drawn to Aaliyah, Justin Timberland, Beyonce and Luke James.
Comparisons aside, his music is influenced by a wide range of artists, such as Michael Jackson, Marvin Gaye, Prince, Maxwell, D’Angelo, Otis Redding and many of the aforementioned artists he is most often compared to. From a production standpoint, he is also influenced by Pharrell, Justin Timberlake, Ryan Leslie, Sean Garrett, 40, Quincy Jones and Babyface. Lyricists who have inspired Kolten’s music include Marvin Gaye, Luke James, Jhene Aiko, Kendrick Lamar, John Legend, Beyonce and Neyo.
As a solo artist, Kolten writes and produces all of his music, always writing from the heart. He also has a band: Silk Gates on drums, Ant Keys on keyboard and Frank J on bass. In all of his music, Kolten draws inspiration from life experiences and the real life situations that so many people can relate to. He wants his fans to get a personal view of his inner self and develop a strong relationship with his music.

One track that will appear on an upcoming recording is “Love Your Body,” which will be featured on WiFi PR Group’s Indie Anthems Vol. 5. The digital mixtape will be handed out on 3,500 download cards to attendees of Coachella in April 2014, and 1,500 more will be available via download codes on Indie Anthems’ Bandcamp page.
One of The Kolten Experience’s greatest musical accomplishments was when he performed in front of 5,400 people that he didn’t know. The feedback they gave him was powerful and “almost made the stage shake,” he recalls. It was a rewarding experience to be able to get the crowd going with the music he treasures and works so hard on. He opened for Miguel right before Miguel released “Adorn,” which he says was also a life-changing experience for him.
