New York City, NY -- (SBWire) -- 06/13/2014 --This week, social fitness app BodyStre.am announced that it will begin offering new ways for users of social media to win prizes and compensation. The new program, which aims to encourage and assist newcomers to social fitness, officially begins this week. Several users will walk away with giftcards to use at supplement giant GNC.

“As a company, our philosophy at BodyStream is pretty simple. We are focused on growing social fitness” said Jai Manselle, a partner at the tech startup. “We want people to feel encouraged, inspired and motivated. What better way to offer some encouragement?”

Users can win the GNC giftcards from within the BodyStre.am app or from Instagram. All they have to do is post a picture from their daily workout and add the hashtag #bodystream. The company has not announced how long it will continue the giveaway, but confirms that more contests will follow immediately. In the company's short history, it has shown a pattern of rewarding users. Last month, Celebrity Trainer Kali O'Mard was named Endorsed Trainer of the Month and received a prize pack that included a laptop from Dell, Beats By Dre headphones and a Samsung Camcorder. That honor went to Hannah Davis this month who received a fitness apparel shopping spree.

Manselle makes it clear that this is not simply a marketing giveaway: “This is new direction for the company. We don't want to do a one time giveaway. We are setting a precedent for the future here. Over the past few months, BodyStre.am, which allows users to share fitness content like diets, workouts and progress pictures publicly or privately, has been gaining a strong following among fitness elites and top trainers. Big names in fitness like Oscar Smith (best known for training Victoria's Secret Angels and Tom Brady) and Basheerah Ahmad (with clients like Steve Harvey and Carrie Underwood) have already joined the app. Social media fitness superstars like Instagram's Lita “@FollowTheLita” Lewis have also began moving their posts to BodyStre.am.
