Arbor Village is a recent project of Seattle Architect Carl Colson and has just received the 2014 Vision Award by the Puget Sound Regional Council.

Bothell, WA -- (SBWire) -- 07/07/2014 --Seattle Architect, Carl Colson,(carlcolsonarchitect.com) has reason to celebrate. A recent project, Arbor Village, has just been awarded the 2014 Vision Award by the Puget Sound Regional Council. Arbor Village was selected for this prestigious award for contributing to the revitalization and redevelopment of a current city center, creating housing suited for public transportation, and expanding and advancing the quality of urban life.

The Puget Sound Council is a planning organization that oversees the economic development, regional transportation, and growth management of Central Puget Sound. Their goal is to ensure that Central Puget Sound remains a thriving community for years to come. They give the Vision 2040 Award out every year to actual examples of wise growth and improved quality of life in the Puget Sound area. Past recipients include the YWCA Family Village at Issaquah, the Japanese Gulch Fish Passage,Orting Valley Farms, and Fife’s Valley Road.

This is what Seattle Architect Carl Colson had to say about the award:

““It’s such an honor for Arbor Village to receive the PSRC’s planning and design award. It’s nice to know that this project is helping the community and providing the needs of the people who call Arbor Village their home.

When you couple this award with the fact that the housing complex was 97% occupied after completion, it becomes obvious that these types of downtown residential developments can be a success when they concentrate on access to public transportation and the standard of living of the residents.

All of this wouldn’t have been possible without the City of Mountlake Terrace’s dedication to the completion of their Town Center zone and the hard work of the developer, AFCO & Sons, along with those of Weber Thompson, the firm who provided architect of record services.””

Carl Colson is a seasoned architect with over 35 years of diverse experience in all areas of architectural design and construction. He has designed commercial and residential projects that include cottage style homes and modern hotels. His prioritizes his clients’ needs during the design process while keeping their budget in mind. Carl is committed to excellence and providing his clients with the very best designs possible.

Arbor Village is located in Mountlake Terrace and accommodates 123 residential units and provides 10,000 square feet of retail space. It also has a spacious two level parking garage with 168 parking spaces and is the first mixed-used building constructed under Mountlake Terrace’s newly zoned Town Center.

Christine Gregoire once said “It is up to us to live up to the legacy that was left for us, and to leave a legacy that is worthy of our children and of future generations.” The Puget Sound Regional Council’s 2040 Vision Award is ensuring that the future generations of Puget will have a rich legacy to enjoy in the very place that they live. Hopefully they’ll want to protect everything that makes Puget Sound such a beautiful place to live. If the Puget Sound

Regional Council is anything like it is today and there are Seattle architects like Carl Colson around, then they’ll have a great time doing just that.
