Always Up for a Great Cause, Peter Tracy Makes a Difference with Folk Music

For Peter Tracy, folk music is an avenue for supporting the social issues that he believes in, and his soulful, often lighthearted music, albums and performances support hospices, environmental issues and beyond.

Las Vegas, NV -- (SBWire) -- 07/17/2014 --Protest and social issues are at the heart of solo artist Peter Tracy’s music. A musician out of Boca Raton, FL, Peter plays guitar, vocals and harmonica to the tune of crucial issues that the world currently faces as a way to make his mark on the world using his own heartfelt music, dedicated to what matters.

A retired dot-com entrepreneur originally inspired to play music by the sounds of Elvis Presley, Peter has since turned to such musical influences as early rock ‘n’ roll and folk music with an emphasis on protest singers, such as Phil Ochs and Joan Baez, plus Jerry Lee Lewis and other early rock icons. As a result, his sound is most often compared to Bob Dylan, Neil Sedaka and Paul Anka.

Lyrically, Peter has been inspired primarily by folk musicians and early R&B artists, such as Leonard Cohen and James Taylor. The concepts of his albums are inspired by a number of different social issues, such as homelessness, hospices, special needs children, global warming and early rock ‘n’ roll.

Peter has released a number of albums over the years that combine these influences and inspirations in authentic and poetic ways. These include Halloween Elvis (2000), PH Tracy & The Animal Band (2006), PH Tracy’s Favorite Elvis Tunes (2007), Loving Words (2008), Back to the 50’s (2008), Help (2009), and PH Tracy Tunes (2011).

With all of his music, Peter entertains audiences with a 50s and 60s repertoire that encourages sing-along. He performs in the North in summers and the South in winters, particularly supporting hospices and senior living centers as well as homeless shelters. He is a hospice volunteer who plays bedside at various hospices, which contributes to the sense of fulfillment he seeks with his music career, rather than fame or money. His album, Loving Words, is donated for fundraising to hospices, and he coupled songs with poet Bob Jacobs’ book of hospice poems, which was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize in 2008.

He’s produced many other fundraising videos over the years as well, many of which have had a light-hearted take while still shedding light on topics such as aging and environmental issues like global warming. With his local activism, he appeals to both local environmental groups and hospice care organizations nationwide.

Peter has upcoming shows scheduled at Ballou’s Wine Bar in Brandford, CT, and Colony Hotel in Delray Beach, FL.

Fans can purchase Peter’s music at his live performances, and they can listen to his music on his website.

Videos of Peter performing are available on his YouTube channel, including videos for “Old Age Is Golden for Old People and Retirement,” “Results of Global Warming and Flood in Florida” and a performance of “Timing Is Everything” on the porch of the historic Colony Hotel.
