Blue Iceberg Group Looks to Transport an Iceberg to Africa to Give Water with Funding Assistance Through Indiegogo

A founder of Blue Iceberg Group, Gleb Cherenkov wants to transport a huge iceberg to Africa to give water to people. He has just launched a fundraiser in Indiegogo, appealing for financial support to bring his unique venture to life.

Toronto, ON -- (SBWire) -- 07/25/2014 --There are ~350 million people in Africa without any access to pure sanitized water. On the other hand, an average iceberg carries enough pure clean water to provide 1 million people with water for full year. Gleb Cherenkov and his team at Blue Iceberg Group are in the process of developing a new and totally feasible way of transporting an iceberg from Arctic to Africa to give it to people there. After proving that this method works, they plan to continue bringing more icebergs to irrigate land in Africa to make it greener.

This project will develop a new and totally feasible way of transporting an iceberg from Arctic to Africa to give it to people there. Thus, the team led by Gleb Cherenkov is asking for help to build the computer model of their method of transportation and build the first 1-to-10 size prototype of their inflatable boat.

Funds raised via Indiegogo will be used to build the computer model of raising an iceberg from water by inflating an inflatable boat beneath it. Thereafter, they will build the first prototype of the inflatable boat (in 1/10th of the size) to prove it works in the real life. While it is going to be only 1/10th of the real size, calculations indicate it will still be able to lift and transport an iceberg that weights 600 tons. A real-life test of the inflatable boat will be performed by the shores of Newfoundland, Canada. The process will be recorded to prove it is possible to lift and transport an iceberg. After this, they will start raising money for the full size boat and renting a tug-boat to transport a bigger iceberg to Africa.

The team is excited about this project and their idea because it can really change Africa and the face of the world. There are about 2000 icebergs that break off Arctic caps and Greenland ice caps. These icebergs can provide enough water to cover the needs of all people in Africa. The ultimate target for this project is to build a green Africa by fighting the spread of desert and erosion of soil.
