Pilgrim, a chow-mixed dog was chained to a tree the first two years of his life in Darlington, SC. As Pilgrim grew, the collar became too small for him, but the owner did not buy him a new one. His health condition worsened as the wounds on his neck progressively became worse and got infected.

After Pilgrim had two operations, the Humane Society allowed Pilgrim to stay in a local house in South Carolina instead of the kennel so his wounds would heal quicker. Once he was completely healed of his wounds, he was taken to Pennsylvania to be adopted.

Bentz had been actively fostering dogs through Almost Home Dog Rescue located in Doylestown, PA. He found Pilgrim and it was love at first sight. With the love and care of Bentz and the Humane Society, Pilgrim is able to live in a loving and caring atmosphere.
