Elgin Carter Sr. wants to restore and rebuild the precious photos of family memories by training and hiring students from the community.

Matawan, NJ -- (SBWire) -- 08/06/2014 --Hurricane Sandy landed in the Tri-State area on October 29, 2012, and the rest is history. As a result of Hurricane Sandy and its impact on the families in the Tri-State area, Bow Tie Portraits created The Rebuilding Memories Project (TRMP).

Many families lost precious photos or their photos were damaged in the storm. The Rebuilding Memories Project is partnering with local organizations, groups, houses of worship, volunteers and other photographers to help families continue to rebuild their lives by restoring damaged photographs or allowing families to take new photographs.

The first goal of this project is called ‘Operation Restore’:

- Create a training program for students in the community

- Train local students to restore photographs

- Hire students who complete the training program to edit and restore damaged photos from their communities

The second goal of this project is the ‘Operation Photo Days’:

- Take new individual and family portraits

The Rebuilding Memories Project wants to positively impact the lives of the people and families impacted by the storm. T-shirts, and other great products are for sale and donations from people will help fund training for students, family photo day and photo restoration.

This project’s ultimate goal is to duplicate this project in Staten Island and Breezy Point Queens, two of the other communities that were heavily impacted by the storm.

This project will only be funded if at least $175,000 is pledged by Sat, Aug 30 2014 7:22 PM +05:30.
