A Capitalist in North Korea - Fun Photo Competition

Pics Mean Prizes. Capture ‘A Capitalist’ and Win a Bundle!” is author Felix Abt’s promotional debut for this book A Capitalist in North Korea: My Seven Years in Hermit Kingdom (http://a-capitalist-in-north-korea.com/).

New York, NY -- (SBWire) -- 09/08/2014 --Abt, a Swiss entrepreneur who worked in North Korea, wrote his memoirs offering in-depth portraits of the thrills, adventures, hurdles, and even accusations of spying while there. In his novel, he recounts a side of the world’s last Iron Curtain that is far from sinister, one lost in the flood of accounts from defectors, journalists, activists, and politicians who pummeled the Stalinist fortress nation into isolation. The author was able to visit several provinces of the hermit kingdom, interviewing hundreds of high-ranking officials, as well as regular North Korean folk. Offering unknown aspects of the DPKR, with more than 200 photos published inside, his book is a compilation of myth-breaking chronicles of the realities of 21st century life and business in this widely misunderstood nation.

To promote his book, the author launched a photo challenge to be on the receiving end of people’s reactions to his work. For most, the idea of being a capitalist in North Korea may seem about as likely as Karl Marx being made CEO of a top NASDAQ company, so Abt asks “Can you think of somewhere just as incongruous to have your photo taken holding your copy of A Capitalist in North Korea?”

Participants can send in a photo of themselves with a copy of the novel or link to a location reminding them of what they thought or felt after reading it. Pictures should then be posted on the I read my 'Capitalist in North Korea' in... Facebook group page (https://www.facebook.com/groups/NorthKoreaPhotoFunCompetition), along with an explanation detailing where and the photo was captured at and why.

In December 2014, a jury of travel experts will select the winners to assign them prizes ranging from gift vouchers, book coupons, travel discounts, to a night out with the author including a dinner in one of Southeast Asia’s best seafood restaurants.
