Palmetto Bay, FL -- (SBWire) -- 09/30/2014 --Palmer Trinity School is privileged to welcome Dr. Manjula B. Salomon as Global Scholar in Residence for the 2014-2015 academic year.

Dr. Salomon will evaluate Palmer Trinity's global education programs to ensure compliance with Global Education Benchmark Group’s (GEBG) Global Education Standards, a set of nationwide guidelines intended as a tool for program design and the development of risk- management policies.

She will also assist in globally enriching the existing professional development programs for faculty, further integrate the School's global studies program with the existing curriculum, increase ties with Asia, Africa and the Middle East, and aid in the development of a global scholars’ program.

Dr. Salomon brings with her 38 years of extensive experience in international education. She most recently held the position of Assistant Head of School, Director of Global Initiatives since 2008 for The Hotchkiss School in Lakeville, Connecticut. In these years she developed a global program with wide partnerships, and a global awareness of the wider world throughout the school. While at Hotchkiss, Dr. Salomon also took on special consultancy projects including I.B. Think Tank, The Hague – 2012; team development of recommended intercultural curriculum for law schools at McGeorge School of Law at the University of the Pacific, in California, and curriculum and training for founding academies for the Agha Khan Foundation in France.

Prior to that, Dr. Salomon was at Jakarta International School in Indonesia from 1985 to 2007, where she mentored International Baccalaureate (I.B.) teachers for 15 years, was Head of Service, I.B. Research Projects Coordinator, and taught Theory of Knowledge and I.B. History and Cultural Anthropology. She has sat on IB curriculum and assessment boards for twenty years. Additionally, she worked with various schools, including curriculum development at the University of Massachusetts' Center for International Education, Teheran International School, Iran, United Nations International School in New York, and University of Madras in India.

Dr. Salomon earned her Bachelor of Arts with a double major in English and history, and a Master of Arts degree in English literature and linguistics at Stella Maris College, University of Madras in India. She was the recipient of a Fulbright Scholarship to the United States where she taught Southeast Asian history to the U.S. Armed Forces. She later continued her education, earning a second master's in teaching English as a second language from the School for International Training, World Learning in Vermont and a doctor of education degree from the Center for International Education at the University of Massachusetts.
