Laurel, MD -- (SBWire) -- 10/03/2014 --This October, give your words more meaning by scribing with words of hope. For a small price, the written word can be transformed into promise, strength and spirit for breast cancer fighters, sufferers and survivors with use of a special pen made with hope in mind. During Breast Cancer Awareness Month, October 1, 2014 to October 31, 2014, Pétales & Pretties™ is donating 10 percent of the purchase price of each Hope Pen™ to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation®. BCRF’s mission is to advance the world’s most promising research to eradicate breast cancer in our lifetime.

The Hope Pen™, created by Michele S. Mills of Pétales & Pretties™, is about more than supporting the fight against breast cancer. It’s about embodying the fight within the survivors. Designed with the spirit of the breast cancer patient in mind, each pen was embellished with a little pizzaz, just enough personality and lots of love.

What started as a breast cancer photo shoot and gift for photographer and cancer survivor, Kishana Highgate became a source of inspiration for a unique pen meant to tackle the greater good.

“I originally started designing the pen as a gift for the photographer. As I searched for beads, I came across one that said, “hope.” It became clear the pen was to be made not only as a symbol of hope for the photographer, but for all those fighting hard to survive the battle.”

With steady hands, a keen eye and precious time, Mills hand selected each bead, chose color schemes and included ribbons meant to embody the personality and spirit of cancer fighters close to her.

After months of careful assembly and design, four Hope Pens™, with four very different personalities were introduced to the world as Survivor, Strong, Strength and Spirit. Though the pens have a similar design featuring a satin ribbon, and three to four beads it’s evident by careful examination that each one clearly depicts the most common characteristics of breast cancer fighters. The pen variations include a hot pink pen with a lampwork bead at the top and a satin pink pen with black quark and silver rhinestones amongst other designs.

About Hope Pen
In addition to being highly stylish statement pieces, the Hope Pen™, is of superb quality guaranteeing a clean finish with each sentence on the page. The satin pink metal case Hope Pen™, is that of black rollerball ink known for smooth and comfortable writing thanks to a cushioned grip near the base.

Although the process took a lot of work and dedication, Mills refuses to think of it as anything but an act of love and hope in an effort to fight the good fight.

“The pens were truly a labor of hope for me. These women have been through so much while maintaining such positivity and high spirits. They inspired me to give what I can to breast cancer research so other patients are given their fair shot of hope to make it through. Because of them, I try to maintain the same positive demeanor they show on a daily basis,” Mills said.

Those who desire to fight like a girl with spunk and become a scribe with style in honor of breast cancer awareness are encouraged to purchase the pen by visiting https://www.etsy.com/shop/PetalesPretties
