More Scientific Studies Find Curcumin Can Help Fight Age-Related Diseases

Portland, OR -- (SBWire) -- 10/08/2014 --Curcumin is the active ingredient that can be found in turmeric, an ancient spice that is widely used for its cooking and therapeutic benefits. It is sometimes used by herbal manufacturing companies to make supplements that are popular among arthritis sufferers and those who want to improve their overall health.

Curcumin has long been believed to be effective for pain relief, but experts now say it may also offer other health benefits. More scientific studies have found that curcumin can have applications in helping to fight age-related diseases such as arthritis and Alzheimer’s disease. Many are also saying that curcumin may have anti-aging properties that can help slow down the aging process.

“Aging is inevitable, but we may yet be able to stave off some of the undesirable consequences of getting older, such as having arthritis or diminishing brain function,” said VitaBreeze Supplements spokesperson, Michelle O’Sullivan. “A lot has to do with taking proper care of our bodies, but it would be wonderful if we could have a helping hand from nature too.”

In 2013, a team of Chinese and U.S. researchers reported that curcumin could have lifespan-extending properties. The studies found that curcumin had successfully slowed down the aging process of organisms such as nematode roundworm and mice.

According to the National Institute on Aging, the anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties of curcumin can help reduce beta-amyloid plaques, which are believed to play a major role in the development of Alzheimer’s disease.

“More and more people especially those who belong to the elderly population are using curcumin supplements. They believe that the herbal product is both safe and effective in helping them achieve joint pain relief and other health benefits. Most of these therapeutic benefits are able to address the problems associated with the aging process,” added O’Sullivan.

With the increasing popularity of natural health movements, it's little surprise that curcumin supplements are in high demand. Many of those who are battling age-related diseases are already relying on the therapeutic benefits of curcumin.

Experts suggest consumers search for a curcumin supplement that contains at least 500mg per serving and also includes BioPerine, a black pepper extract that enhances the body’s capacity to absorb nutrients such as curcumin www.amazon.com/Turmeric-Curcumin-Complex-BioPerine-Bio-availability/dp/B00JA4TLTI/
