Turmeric Found to Have Potential in Improving Liver Health

Portland, OR -- (SBWire) -- 10/24/2014 --Turmeric is a widely known kitchen spice that is also often used as a natural remedy for a variety of conditions, including arthritis. Many scientific studies and clinical trials have been conducted by renowned researchers to see and validate the efficiency of the spice for human health. According to researchers at the University of Maryland Medical Center, turmeric has been used to treat a variety of medical conditions for 4,000 years.

In a study published in the Indian Journal of Physiology and Pharmacology, a controlled animal study suggested that turmeric had liver-protective properties and also appears to have positive effects on how the liver functions. Using rats as its subject, it was found that the rats who were not treated with turmeric did not experience improvement an in the liver function.

There are several herbs that are beneficial to the liver, but turmeric is believed to have the potential to also strengthen the organ. Some studies even showed that turmeric shares the same liver protectant compounds that are usually found in artichoke and milk thistle. According to these studies, it has the potential to treat certain conditions such as cirrhosis, hepatitis, and jaundice.

“Turmeric is also considered as a powerful liver detoxifying spice. Toxins are everywhere in the food we eat or air we breathe. An overworked and stressed liver needs to eliminate harmful toxins before it can properly function,” said VitaBreeze Supplements spokesperson, Michelle O’Sullivan.

Nutritionists and scientists believe that turmeric can significantly help get rid of the toxins from the liver. These toxins, if not eliminated, can lead to the development of diseases such as allergies, skin conditions, cancer, and cardiovascular disease. Toxic overload is also a known cause of rheumatoid arthritis.

Individuals from around the world have their own way of incorporating turmeric into their diet. Some use the ingredient as a tea while others add the turmeric powder into their dishes as a spice. More recently, there are those that use supplements to take advantage of the therapeutic effects of turmeric.

Turmeric has an active ingredient known as curcumin, which is believe to be responsible for many of the spice’s therapeutic benefits. Curcumin supplements have become an increasingly popular way to receive a potent dose of turmeric for maximum benefit www.amazon.com/Turmeric-Curcumin-Complex-BioPerine-Bio-availability/dp/B00JA4TLTI
