Short Film Starring Hollywood Child Star Launches Indiegogo Campaign to Help Break Barriers for Deaf Children

Deaf Actress Aryanna Engineer Stars in New Role.

London, UK -- (SBWire) -- 10/29/2014 --Dreaming of Peggy Lee is a British short film about two Deaf children that escape their oppressive care home and sneak into a 1940's jazz club in London. The London filmmakers have launched an Indiegogo campaign to fulfill the overall mission statement of the film - to remove the barriers between Deaf children and their achievements.

Aryanna Engineer is a deaf child actress who has won international acclaim in the films Orphan and Resident Evil. Her co-star, William Palmer, was born profoundly deaf and was given a cochlear implant. Will learned to use sign language as a baby and has since learned to speak. This project utilizes the short film concept taking place over the space of just one song, a revamped version of Peggy Lee’s classic, 'Why Don’t You Do Right?', which is being specially arranged with a new musical score by composer and musical director Dom James to be recorded with a 14 piece swing band that will also feature in the film.

Already creating quite a stir within the Deaf community, BBC TV have picked up on this project and will be making a docu / feature about the making of this film to be broadcast next year as part of their ‘See Hear’ series.

Other notable cast members attached to this film include acclaimed British actors David Foxxe and Beth Winslet.

Investors helping fund the Dreaming of Peggy Lee Short Film campaign will be eligible for perks such as tickets to visit the Shard, drawing entries for Harrod's Hamper, London Big Bus Tour, Selfridge's Voucher, West End Show Voucher, Digital download of soundtrack as well as the opportunity to be a 1940’s jazz club guest in the film.

The team need to raise £10,000 to make this project happen and are hoping that the cinematic and musical appeal of the film combined with the mission statement to help break barriers for Deaf children will encourage contributors to make a donation online.

For those unable to support the film financially, the team are encouraging people to share the campaign link on social media such as Twitter and Facebook.
