Los Angeles, CA -- (SBWire) -- 11/04/2014 --It's all about “HER” with the new Leak Free panties created by PadKix Design Lab. Labeled the “Panties that Save,” this groundbreaking product is both environmentally friendly and socially conscious. Created using innovative materials, these unique menstrual panties are absorbent, washable, and reusable, which means less waste in landfills and more freedom for women. For every single Leak Free purchase, buyers donate one menstrual panty to “HER”, an adolescent girl living in an undeveloped country. It's new. It's progressive. It's never been done before, and it needs financial backing.

Disposable pads are, “wasteful, filled with chemicals, and make up an estimated 20 billion pollutants every year,” reports Leak Free on their Kickstarter web page. However, Leak Free's innovative design eliminates the use of disposable pads thus reducing the amount of trash and harmful chemicals that are deposited in landfills.

Aside from saving the environment, Leak Frees save adolescent girls around the world from missing school every month due to lack of proper menstrual sanitation. Leak Free offers a permanent solution to this problem at no cost to them, pledging to match every pair purchased with a pair for HER. It is their hope that through this one for one business model, Leak Free can advance education for women around the world.

Leak Free was created using bamboo microfiber as its absorber. It is the first and only one of its kind and, “three times more absorbent than a regular disposable pad,” says Leak Free. In addition, this material is thermal regulating, staying 2-3 degrees cooler in hot temperatures and 2-3 degrees warmer in cold temperatures. Other materials used are cotton and viscose, giving the fabric a soft comfortable texture. “It feels better than a regular panty,” says Nicole Guibard, a Los Angeles based fashion model.

Panties come in five different designs inspired by the French New Wave era and range from size XS to 3XL. Every Leak Free purchase comes with The Rose Bag, a water-resistant and stain-proof bag made of recycled rice sack. “It's perfect for storing a fresh Leak Free and depositing used ones,” says Leak Free.

Backers can pledge any amount over one dollar. For pledges over 7 dollars, backers receive a reward. The reward is based on the amount pledged and set up in various increments. With a 20-dollar pledge backers receive one panty, one rose bag, and donate one pair to HER. A 100-dollar pledge earns the backer all five panty styles, a rose bag, a giving band, a t-shirt, and a 5-panty donation to HER. Men can help the cause as well by pledging $10 to donate a pair to HER or purchasing a t-shirt to spread the word. The name of every backer will be listed on the Leak Free website to show the world how many Leak Frees they've shared to the cause. The goal of Leak Free is to reach out to young women around the world by building support for a more sustainable alternative to disposable pads.
