Owner, Jill Mahnane comes home to her roots

Portland, OR -- (SBWire) -- 11/26/2014 --Oregon native, Jill Mahnane opened her doors to Urban Dog City Kitty last week, just in time for Black Friday and Small Business Saturday. Located in the heart of the popular Pearl District, the shop features “gifts and gear for pets and people.” The shop is located at 1019 NW 11th Avenue.

After spending nearly two decades in the San Francisco Bay Area working as a Sr. Marketing Manager for Charles Schwab, Jill and husband, Bader, returned to Portland. Tired of corporate life, Jill decided to merge her favorite passions – sewing, photography and pets – into her latest venture, Urban Dog City Kitty.

“I have always loved the three hobbies and thought that Portland is the perfect place to create a boutique for pets and people” says Jill. “Portland is pet AND environmentally friendly, which is a good match for what I provide.”

Urban Dog City Kitty offers unique, high end, yet affordable boutique items, such as collars, ceramic dishes, a variety of blankets and, well, pet bling!

“I focus on bringing local products to my store and have a large emphasis on sustainable and organic products,” she explains. Additionally, she works with small producers in places such as New York, London and Paris.

Jill also plans to offer pet portraits and specialized gift baskets in the near future. She is not new to the industry – in fact, she has been operating her pet boutique virtually for the last four years and has always been an avid photographer.
