ACS Services Successfully Completes Second Round of Drilling on ADOT SR202 Project

Company's efforts put important capacity improvement project off to a good start, included acquisition and use of new B59 mobile mechanical drill, ACS Services reports

Mesa, AZ -- (SBWire) -- 12/01/2014 --ACS Services, LLC, announced the successful completion of the company's second drilling project on the design phase of the Arizona Department of Transportation's SR202 freeway widening plan. As part of the work, ACS Services deployed a newly acquired B59 mobile drilling rig, an acquisition that has enhanced the company's drilling capacity with improved rock coring, overburden, and auger capabilities. ACS Services, LLC, provides geotechnical engineering, environmental and forensic studies, contract drilling and other services throughout the state of Arizona.

"We're proud to announce that we have once again completed some critical drilling work that will ultimately contribute to improved traffic conditions around Mesa and throughout the Phoenix area," ACS Services representative Tom Haenfler said, "Under contract with the Arizona Department of Transportation, ACS Services once again successfully drilled at a number of designated sites to allow for the study of geological conditions below."

As the Phoenix metropolitan area has continued to grow, traffic has become a subject of constant concern. An impressive network of highways links the many cities and communities in the Valley of the Sun, but many have these have become almost perpetually clogged with commuters and commercial vehicles.

The Arizona Department of Transportation is tasked with keeping most of these routes usable and flowing freely. The ADOT's SR Loop 202 capacity improvement project that ACS Services has assisted with is one of the most important of these at the present time. Scheduled for completion in the first half of 2016, it will provide additional lanes to Loop 202 from the Broadway Road intersection to Loop 101.

ACS Services has just finished supplying the company's second round of important assistance with the project. ACS Services drilling technicians and engineers have been contracted by ADOT to drill at selected sites in order to provide geological samples and otherwise contribute to the understanding of the subsurface geological conditions that prevail in these areas. This important work allows the project's planners to make informed decisions about how to design and direct the new improvements.

In the course of this second phase of drilling work, ACS Services added a B59 mobile mechanical drill to the company's stock of equipment. Widely considered a flexible and highly capable drilling platform, the B59 can be tasked with hollow-stem auger, coring, and rotary drilling work, and serves as an excellent complement to ACS Services' CME 45 and CME 75 drill trucks.

In addition to providing construction drilling services of this sort, ACS Services is recognized as a leading engineering consultanting firm in the phoenix area. Equipped with an AASHTO R18 certified geotechnical engineering laboratory, the company supplies a wide range of geotechnical services, including earth fissure studies, subgrade prepartion requirements surveys, seismic refraction analysis, and many more.
