Kelowna, BC -- (SBWire) -- 12/29/2014 --Dr. Gerald Wallace announced recently the addition of the newest generation of Spectral Domain OCT, the revolutionary new Zeiss OCT scanning device, to his practice at Tutt Street Optometry in Kelowna, British Columbia.

Explaining briefly about this new technology, Dr. Wallace states, "OCT is a scanning technology very similar to a CT scan. It is used to scan the retina and optic nerve at a very high resolution, down to a 5 micron (0.005 mm) digital segment of your eye. It is possible to use this technology to scan the anterior portion of the eye, but it is generally used to investigate, diagnose and monitor glaucoma and macular degeneration. It does this by creating high resolution images of the eye, which can then be used for analysis and detection of changes that could signal possible ocular problems."
