Los Angeles, CA -- (SBWire) -- 01/05/2015 --The Going Green Film Festival is proud to announce a innovative way to view Official Selection Films: Streaming through our Roku TV Channel.

"We're very excited at the possibility of giving our filmmakers an ever wider audience," states festival founder Patrice Williams. "Over eight million subscribers of Roku will have the opportunity to view award-winning films for free from their television or streaming on their smartphones."

Roku makes it easy to watch a wide range of free channels, subscribe to popular streaming services (like  Netflix  and  Hulu Plus ), rent the latest TV episode, or own a major blockbuster. With over 200,000 movies and TV episodes to choose from, and unique features that make it simple to stream, it's easy to see why Roku has over eight million subscribers.

The  Going Green Film Festival  will transmit the selected films through their public Roku channel April 1-30, 2015.

The Going Green Film Festival launched in 2010 as a way to encourage and reward  green filmmaking, as well as educate filmmakers on the necessity of lowering their carbon footprint on this planet.

Eligible film submissions include "green-produced" films, films with a TOPIC/THEME related to third world issues, ecology, nature, wildlife, the environment, OR features a HYBRID vehicle, a bicycle, electric scooter, Segway, roller skates, skateboard, or public transportation.

Final deadline for submissions is January 19, 2015.  Submit through Film Freeway:  https://filmfreeway.com/festival/TheGoingGreenFilmFestival
