New Directions for Women Announces New Alumnae Coordinator and Store Manager

Costa Mesa, CA -- (SBWire) -- 01/09/2015 --The "for women and women with children" addiction treatment facility New Directions for Women http://www.newdirectionsforwomen.org/ is proud to announce they are have brought on board a new Alumnae Coordinator, Emili Barbour, and a new Store Manager at the New Directions Repeat Boutique, Michele Lyon.

Barbour is taking over the reins from her pregnant best friend Lauren, while Lyon is both an alumna of New Directions and an experienced retail manager with experience at Bloomingdales and her own boutique.

Meet Emili Barbour, New Directions' New Alumnae Coordinator

"I'm excited to be giving back to New Directions," Emili Barbour says. "If it wasn't for the organization, "I wouldn't be sober today."

Barbour is not just a New Directions alumna, http://www.newdirectionsforwomen.org/alumnae/ she's been an active participant in each alumnae event in the last four years. This made her a natural choice for Alumnae Coordinator, and she began her tenure at September's annual Alumnae Retreat. The event, designed around fun, fellowship, and having a chance to reconnect with other sisters in sobriety, was held at Milestones Ranch in Malibu.

Barbour also came in just in time for December's annual New Directions Holiday Party, which she characterized as "the most exciting time of the year... the party just gets bigger each year, and normally more than 150 people come, it's so much fun!"

Both Barbour and the rest of the New Directions team believe it's crucial to stay connected with those women you shard your early sobriety with.

"Especially in early sobriety, you have to feel you can identify with and relate to other women. That's what being alumnae is about. We're all about supporting each other, having fun, and giving back. I'm particularly moved by the unique ways women who have already gone through the New Directions program deliver such a message of hope to the new girls attending treatment."

Combining Clothes with New Directions: Store Manager Michele Lyon

New Directions' Repeat Boutique http://www.newdirectionsforwomen.org/foundation/repeat-boutique/ has also won a new Store Manager, who graduated from the New Directions program in 1985. Michele Lyon brings a broad spectrum of experience in the clothing retail field to the job -- she's owned her own boutique and been a Bloomingdales personal stylist. With a keen personal style and a tremendous passion for fashion, Lyon says taking on the job feels like coming home.

"The job blends two major passions for me, New Directions and clothes," she says. "For me there's no better fit than running Repeat Boutique."

Since Lyon came on board in August, she's been hard at work revamping the boutique. It now has uniform pricing, plus a high-end section at the back with individual prices. There's also a brand-new jewelry section and sitting area.
