Gloucester, VA -- (SBWire) -- 01/20/2015 --As per the 2010 Census data, there are 70 million disabled people in America. Out of this population, it is estimated that at least 1% have disabilities that limit their upper body movement and prevent them from playing golf. William Wright is working to develop a specially designed golf club that will allow those with disabilities to play golf on a normal golf course with their friends, neighbors, co-workers, etc.

After the mythical bird that rose from the ashes, William has chosen the name Phoenix for his uniquely designed golf club. The most interesting feature of Phoenix is that there is no need to physically swing the club.

In terms of its physical appearance, the Phoenix golf club will resemble a normal golf club as closely as possible. The club will comprise of two major components. There will be an upper shaft or housing that will contain the power supply and electro-mechanical components. The lower shaft with the club head will be moveable. These two shafts will have approximate lengths of 20 inches and 16 inches, respectively. The lower shaft's diameter will be same as that of standard golf club. The club's extraordinary design will allow the lower shaft to move rearward to a hitting position whenever the club head shaft is energized. The weight of Phoenix Golf Club will be less than 5 pounds.

This project is currently in a very early stage of development. William has carried out a patent search and obtained patent pending status for the golf club. A highly reputable research and development company has been engaged to perform an initial feasibility analysis.

William Wright's estimated cost for the completion of this project is $35,000. A Kickstarter campaign has been launched to raise this amount.

This fundraising campaign will end on February 26, 2015.
