PMS and Insomnia: What Can People Do?

It isn't until a few days before the start of the next period that both estrogen and progesterone levels drastically drop. Lee says that this abrupt progesterone withdrawal causes insomnia.
Generally, low progesterone also causes the body temperature to drop. However, the accompanying drop in estrogen levels, coupled by the drastic movements of the hormones, lead to the body's temperature-regulating system to be confused. As a result, hot flashes, night sweats, sleep deprivation and insomnia episodes occur.
Fortunately, insomnia associated with PMS is not a hopeless case, since there are measures that may be taken.
