Valentines Day 5k Announced to Benefit Non-Profit School for the Deaf

Valentineswalkrun.com launches Valentine's Day 5K Fun Race to benefit the Blossom Montessori School for the Deaf in St. Petersburg, Florida.

St. Petersburg, FL -- (SBWire) -- 01/22/2015 --The Tampa Bay area is home to the innovative Blossom Montessori School for the Deaf. Based in Clearwater, Florida; this is one of a handful of schools in the United States that teach children using both American Sign Language and spoken English in a Montessori teaching environment. Benefiting this educational institution for deaf children and those children with hearing loss, is their upcoming Valentines Day 5k Race to be held at Vinoy Park.

School spokesperson Lisa Wilson explains how this Upcoming 5k St. Petersburg is a unique fun run, explaining that both St. Petersburg businesses and individuals can participate. "Proceeds from our upcoming 5k in St. Petersburg will support a myriad of programs that provide services for our students who are deaf or hard of hearing. Tampa bay is home to the 4th largest Deaf and Hard of Hearing community in the United States. This includes many children who need the type of assistance that only Blossom can provide. Our school also supports our children with speech language, occupational and behavioral therapies for these children. What differentiates our program from many others, is how we tailor our program to fit each individual child and their needs."

Lisa Wilson describes the event in detail. "On Valentine's Day, February 14th, 2015, St. Petersburg will be the location of our 5K Fun Run that is prepared to welcome over 1000 participants from our start point at Vinoy Park. This is an event that welcomes all types of area organizations and businesses as sponsors. The run allows participants to run in a timed race for an assortment of metals and prizes, both serious and funny. Also, everyone can run a untimed 5K distance at their own pace. Many people walk the entire distance just to be a part of this wonderful event."

Wilson goes on to say, "This event involves all age groups and members of the Tampa Bay community." Lisa Wilson elaborates, saying, "In addition to the 5k fun run St. Petersburg, we offer a variety of children's activities, Valentine's Day photo opportunities, community education booths and a well-publicized costume contest. Participants at Vinoy Park will also receive water, juice, a beer ticket courtesy of Crowley's Downtown and a variety of prepared and fresh snacks. Because of the high rate of active involvement from the community, this event is perfect for corporate or personal sponsorship. Sponsorship opportunities begin at $250 and go up to $10,000, with money going to benefit the non-profit Blossom Montessori School for the Deaf."
