Turkish Programmer Writing an Entertaining Book About Computer Basics

Istanbul, Turkey -- (SBWire) -- 02/04/2015 --What the world really needs is an exciting, fun book about computer programming and the Internet. That's the way Babur Saylan sees it, anyway.

Saylan is a programmer from Istanbul, Turkey, who is constantly amazed about the way people are intimidated about confused about computer programming, coding and websites. So he is writing a book called www, What The Hell Is Going On? It is mostly fact, partly fiction and takes an entertaining approach to programming.

"It's been a dream of mine for many years to write a book about computer programming, explaining how simple and fun it is," says Saylan. "In this project, combining my knowledge with my writing experience.

"I want to present simple answers to hard questions in an amusing way. The facts are woven into a fantastic story and people reading the book will probably wonder whether they're reading a novel, an advanced technical book or a guiding book for beginners. I think they'll laugh at the caricatures and when they reach last page of the book, they'll say to themselves: 'Damn. Is it that simple?'"

In the book, three ordinary human beings, by a miracle, start to "see" and "hear" the Internet codes, algorithms, IP communications and programs. "The journey that leads them to become computer gurus may lead us to see that maybe we are created by the universe we think we created," Saylan says.

The plan is to create and publish a three-book trilogy, written in Turkish and English. Costs for the initial production phase of What The Hell Is Going On? are estimated to be $14,000. This includes writing and editing, printing, design work, shipping and taxes.

In order to generate this capital, Saylan has launched an Indiegogo campaign, which can be viewed at https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/www-what-the-hell-is-going-on

Donations of any amount are welcome. For $100, backers will receive a signed copy of the book (available only to Turkish contributors). For $500, Saylan will add a presentation page to the book that is written by the contributor. It will also include links to the contributor's web pages.

In addition, Saylan is developing a profit-sharing plan in which contributors are reimbursed for their donations and are eligible for future earnings if the book hits certain sales goals.

"The book is not geared just for computer illiterates," he says. "I've seen many programmers who completed their projects without knowing how or why they did it. I also want to teach those people the basics of programming and the Internet."
