Long Beach, CA -- (SBWire) -- 02/24/2015 --The Building Industry Association of Southern California (BIASC) has elected home remodeling industry veteran Michael Baum as the new President of the Remodelers Council. The mission of the BIASC Remodelers Council is multi-pronged.

First, the council serves as a collective voice in the local remodeling industry and participates in the regulatory and legislative process.

Second, the Remodeling Council provides educational programs for the purpose of enhancing the professionalism of local home remodeling contractors. Examples include programs for becoming a Certified Graduate Remodeler (CGR), a Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist (CAPS), and a Certified Green Builder (CGB). They also provide helpful information to homeowners on how to select a competent home remodeling general contractor.

Third, the Remodeling Council promotes ethical and professional standards to enhance the image of the remodeling industry.

Lastly, the mission of the council is to increase the quality and value of the homes of the homeowners they serve.

Membership in the Remodelers Council is limited to general contractors (and associates) who meet specific standards for financial responsibility and technical competence, as well as have a track record of fair dealings with homeowners.
