EDWIN Producers Launch Kickstarter Campaign to Raise Funds

The producers of EDWIN, The Story of Edwin Booth, have launched a Kickstarter campaign to raise funds for an advance preview of a musical drama that tells the story of Edwin Booth, elder brother of John Wilkes Booth.

New York, NY -- (SBWire) -- 03/09/2015 --EDWIN, The Story of Edwin Booth is a fascinating glimpse into the life of America's greatest Shakespearean actor of the nineteenth century and brother of assassin John Wilkes Booth.  Now, Great Circle Productions, Inc., a non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation, has launched a Kickstarter campaign to raise funds for an advance preview of this historic and riveting musical drama.

Per the description at https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/storyofedwinbooth/edwin-the-story-of-edwin-booth, this musical drama takes the audience backstage on the night of Edwin Booth's return to the stage after the assassination of President Lincoln.  In the midst of death threats, public outrage and his own personal demons, Edwin Booth retakes the spotlight as the greatest American Shakespearean actor of his day in this incredible story.

The preview is timed to coincide with the 150th anniversary of the end of the Civil War, and will be presented at The Players , the club for actors founded by Edwin Booth at his home in Gramercy Park.  The production team includes Artistic/Executive Director Jane Kosminsky, Composer Marianna Rosett, Librettist Eric Swanson, Director Ben Donenberg, Musical Director Hugh Murphy, Videographer Molly McBride and Star Performer Gary Ramsey.  The preview is scheduled for April 8 and 9, 2015.

The Kickstarter funds will be used to pay for the performance venue as well as provide a stipend for the performers who have passionately donated their time and talent to the project.
