The new Vitara is more compact than its predecessor and offers a number of opportunities for personalisation. Prices start at £13,999 for the five-door crossover, which will be taking on the likes of the Renault Captur and Nissan Juke in the UK market.

The stylish new Vitara is available in two- or ALLGRIP four-wheel-drive formats with a 1.6 litre petrol engine or choice of diesel engines. There are ten colour schemes, including two-tone options, and extras such as the 'Rugged Package', which adds front and rear and side mouldings. The 'Urban Package' features chrome-plated bezels to the fog lamps and a rear spoiler. Optional extras include a smartphone connection and a panoramic sunroof. Safety equipment includes seven airbags on every trim level, 'RBS' automatic braking and optional adaptive cruise control.

One of the new Vitara's most practical features is a useful 375 litres of boot space. The Vitara has always been one of Suzuki's most popular models in the UK, and the Japanese firm is expecting the latest version to find favour in the fast-expanding SUV sector.
