Doncaster Airport Car Parking Experts Shocked 1,600 Parents in Hull Were Fined over School Term Ban

UKairportcarparks.co.uk are shocked that 1,600 parents in Hull and East Riding were fined for taking children out of school to gain a cheap holiday.

Doncaster, UK -- (SBWire) -- 04/17/2015 --According to official figures, 1,600 parents were fined for taking their children out of school for a family holiday. Due to the high prices of holidays when children are off school, many parents in Hull felt they had no alternative but to ignore the ban.

UKairportcarparks.co.uk, who has called on David Cameron to relax the ban or stop travel companies from increasing prices when children are off school, has said the fine system is causing parents hardship. A spokesman for the Cheap Doncaster Airport Car Parking Company explained the government should look at the ban again and find a way to make holidays cheaper.

Chris Fryer from UKairportcarparks.co.uk said: "We agree that children need their education, but we also believe travel companies are taking advantage of the ban. The Prime Minister needs to take action against travel companies or change the term times of schools around the country."

The record fines were calculated in Hull and East Riding from September 2014. That means, in less than 12 months 1,600 parents were fined for trying to have a cheap holiday with their children. Those figures are similar around the country, which shows how damaging the fine system has become.

Councillor Julie Abraham, East Riding Council's portfolio holder for education, said: "It shows some families have that difficult decision to make over whether to take a cheaper holiday in term time or have their children in school.

Mike Whale, Hull branch secretary of the National Union of Teachers (NUT), said the figures from September last year prove fines are not a deterrent.

He said: "The NUT supports efforts schools are making to ensure children go to school. However, we are not convinced that giving families a fine is the way to go about it.

Some MPs, teachers, and councillors have called the fine system unfair and have joined parent's for action to be taken. One option according to UKairportcarparks.co.uk is for the government to step in and stop the travel industry taking advantage. Another option is to change the term times around the country while a third option would be to allow parents to take children out of school for five days each year.

Although the ban has become unpopular, and it has caused thousands of parents around the country to go without a family holiday, it does not seem there will be a change on the horizon with relaxing the ban.
