One Foot Out The Door was previously published in 2007 and is back after editorial review from former senior executive editor at Mills & Boon Harlequin UK division, Tessa Shapcott.

One Foot Out The Door, which is set in suburban Detroit, is a contemporary romance story of Cyndarella Worthy. She is a single African-American woman in her thirties whose boyfriend proposes marriage, to which she joyfully accepts. A well-intended but meddling girlfriend exposes a tragic secret from Cyndarella's past that involves her first love, a Chaldean gentleman of Iraqi descent named Bashar Bazzi. This revelation threatens her current relationship with Thad, who is African-American. When Cyndarella uncovers the truth, she realizes that she needs to seek out this former flame to help bring closure no matter how much she despises him. When Cyndarella and Bashar reconnect, however, their spark is apparent.

Cyndarella fights for her emotional life against chemistry while Bashar lurks in the midst. In the past, Cyndarella faced racial prejudice from Bashar's family that tore them apart, and she vows not to travel down that road again. Readers are immediately engaged, asking the question 'Will she be able to resist?'
