East Granby, CT -- (SBWire) -- 04/22/2015 --Food Logistics reported that Swiss chocolate maker Barry Callebaut will expand its manufacturing in the U.S. with a $5.7 million deal with World's Finest Chocolate, a family-owned company. Sponsored by Pcdata USA, Picking Perfection newsletter shared that Barry Callebaut will acquire the industrial chocolate manufacturing assets and lease space at its production site in Chicago. It will also supply all of World's Finest Chocolate's chocolate demand from its existing Chicago facility. The Swiss company, which already has 11 factories in the U.S., said the deal would allow it to capitalize on growth opportunities with other customers in the region and add 25,000 tons per annum in production volume in the near term.

The Barry Callebaut Group, with estimated $6.5 billion in annual sales, is the world's largest chocolate and cocoa company. It runs more than 50 production facilities globally and Barry Callebaut USA LLC has its headquarters in Chicago. The merger and acquisition along with expansion increases the likelihood of mis-picks since all operations are not similarly coordinated. This can be readily resolved.
