Los Angeles, CA -- (SBWire) -- 05/11/2015 --Diana Galimzyanova is a Russian Tatar writer and director based in Moscow, Russia. Her debut award-winning short film, February 28 (2014) was accepted to more than fifteen festivals in seven countries. This year, her short film, Imaginary Fiend, will be featured at the 2015 Festival of Cannes.

May 13-24, 2015 will mark the 68th year for the Festival de Cannes. The industry's most prestigious film festival will draw more than 30,000 attendees, including high-profile industry executives and celebrities, at its 150 selective screenings, galas and film market.

In Imaginary Fiend, everything goes wrong when an agoraphobic misanthropist orders himself an imaginary enemy. Galimzyanova wanted to tell a story about the inevitable disaster that self-hate brings to a person's life. The film was started as a treatment for a stop-motion clay animation that she wanted to shoot herself. She shot a scene but it did not turn out very nice and still have those monstrous clay people in her closet. Years later, when she was finishing a screenplay for her next short, A Russian Film Noir, she stumbled upon her old treatment for Imaginary Friend and decided to develop it instead.
