London, UK -- (SBWire) -- 05/20/2015 --At the recent biannual company conference, UK materials handling manufacturer Advanced Handling celebrated business performance growth and were joined by UK motivational speaker, Steve Head.

Advanced Handling, located near Peterborough, has experienced strong growth since becoming a division of the Swedish owned Sunnex Group two years ago. With an updated range of lifting equipment solutions and services, the materials handling manufacturer has focused on their internal development to support future expansion.

UK motivational speaker Steve Head presented a highly energetic and engaging talk highlighting three things that make a great place to work: 1) Trust; 2) Pride in what you do; 3) Camaraderie, friendship and support. Steve Head highlighted when working within a smaller business each individual has a greater responsibility; and summarised by encouraging a clear focus on positive personal and professional experiences and achievements. The conference continued with a customer centric workshop in the afternoon for all customer facing teams.

Advanced Handling updated their core values in spring 2013 to enhance engagement and communication within and across all departments from senior management to the factory floor. "At each company conference we have highlighted one area within our core values and this meeting we concentrated on team work." Mike Prince, Managing Director of Advanced Handling explained further why this internal focus was a priority at this conference; "During expansion there are adjustments, new processes and new people, and myself and the senior management team believe it is very important we encourage everyone here [at Advanced Handling] to work together and keep talking to each other as a recipe for our successful business."

In 2013 Advanced Handling introduced Lean Manufacturing. Traditionally designed for manufacturing environments and processes, the core elements of Lean Manufacturing were implemented by the office and administration departments too. Commercial Director Liz Middleton commented; "We introduced a new culture which everyone has embraced within the factory and the office departments, and as a result the level of awareness of each other's working area has increased. The results have shown us further improvements in the quality of manufacturing, stock management, productivity and improved communication."

With reported Sales Orders twenty four per cent above budget, Mike Prince concluded; "Through times of growth, working together and adapting to change are the key factors which will help us continue to grow."
